Portfolio > Circle Drawing Survey

Corrie Baldauf, Detroit, Cranbrook
Recording Rotations (framed)
ink on wood panel
18" x 18"

This circle measures the space of my hand and pen moving across the drawing. Each time I picked up my hand to reach a new area, I left a reminder of the space traversed. The constellation of gaps show the frequency and spacing of every time I lifted my hand for a break, to shift the drawing, or change position. The spacing of the marks and the shifting density of their placement record the composure of my body in different positions, showing where I speed up or slow down in my work rhythm.
