Wrenches Must Be Thrown for Pearls to be Made
ink and pearlescent acrylic on clay panel

In all my drawings the spaces where there are no marks record the times I am actively engaged with my surroundings. This drawing shifts the perspective on these moments. I select objects to focus on and drop them onto the composition, literally throwing a wrench into the gears. These times of present awareness on objects that catch my attention stand in for the moments of sound that are more often captured through text in the margins of my drawings. What is left is a trace of an experience.
